Kidney Function, Calcium, & CT Scan

Looks like Jeremy’s kidney function is back in the normal range! Grateful they were able to find the problem and correct it before there was kidney damage. The doctor said it was a good sign that his numbers improved so quickly after putting in the stents. They will continue to monitor this as we move forward and hopefully nothing else will need to be done.

His calcium continues to stay too low for it to be safe to go home so he will be here probably for the next 2-3 days as they work to bring that up. The type of chemo he is on is most likely the culprit for this issue as it is a known side effect.

We learned the results of the CT scan. The mass in his chest wall has decreased in size and the other known masses appear stable.
Unfortunately,  they found another mass in his leg. Fortunately, he’s had it from the time he was diagnosed so it’s not new. He’s  had pain in that leg from the very beginning,  but they never saw anything on either of the two ultrasounds they did on it.  A couple weeks ago, I had  asked his PA as to how she didn’t see the mass in his chest when she put in his port.  She had purposely looked with ultrasound because she thought it looked suspicious but didn’t see anything there (CT scan didn’t show anything either). Her explanation was that his cancer was hiding in his muscle. It wasn’t until it grown enough that CT scan was able to pick it up. It made me start wondering about his leg and if this could be the same thing going on with it.  I told the doctor at Emory what I was thinking ( only because we saw him first after I had the realization) and after he examined it, he suggested they do a scan of his thigh when they did the other CT scan. Sure enough, it was a mass of the same nature. So though finding the mass doesn’t change treatment, knowing it was there and having a old scan to compare it to would have helped determine how effective chemo is being.

So for now, we are going to continue with the chemo he is on as it at least appears like it may be stabilizing some of his cancer.

Thank you everyone for your prayers and encouraging words!
